Mindmap exercise.
The first step was to select an area of interest. The task was to create a mindmap listing all the things I care about. This exercise helped me to be able to select the topic for my project because I was able to see all my interests put down on paper and thus start to form clear ideas in my mind.
Planning the purpose and objectives of the site.
After selecting the main interest and location, I started to plan what kind of objectives the site will fulfill, and the purpose of having such a site. It was important to create goals and to keep in mind throughout the entire process of this project, as the end-goals will always define and give direction during all the stages of the project.
Creating objectives for the site.
In-class activity.
When working on a project, it can be easy to get stuck in one way of seeing things, and thus lose opportunities to include something innovative and refreshing. For this purpose, we had an in-class activity, where we each were to swap ideas with a classmate, and create a game out of the elements derived from the intial ideas. Seeing someone else's ideas gave me a new perspective to work from in terms of my project, and I was able to get inspired. Finally, through the element of a game, I shall be able to include a more playful and interactive aspect in my site.
